Seven and half months and growing

Beckett, you are turning into quite the little boy. I'll probably keep saying this at every age, but this is such a fun age. You are sitting by yourself and you recently discovered that with a little help from mommy and daddy that you can pull yourself up to stand. Which once your standing you never want to go back to sitting or laying! You are also getting those two little front teeth now. Soon you'll be munching on everything! We've found that you are quite inquisitive...also checking out people before you let your guard down. You hide your smiles until you really know the person!
We love you so much Beckett. We're having so much fun!!!

Baby Dedication

We had the opportunity to celebrate our love for the Lord and you today! We had your baby dedication at church (Park Community Church). As part of the dedication your dad and I professed our committment to raising you in a Christian, Lord knowing home filled with love, faith, and hope. We pray that you know the Lord, Beckett and that you have a lifelong walk with Christ. God is the most important thing in our life on earth and I hope that you find this to be true in life as well.

As part of the day Jennifer and Matt Wright partnered with us in praying for you! We also had the support of your grandparents and Aunt Amanda and Uncle Justin at the service.

God Bless Beckett!

Colossians 1-10

"so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,"

6 Months Goes By Fast

Wow, little guy the past 6 months have gone by fast. It makes me wonder how fast the years to come will go. On Monday, you turned 6 months old and we spent the morning at the doctor's office. We went in because you had a cough which you got from Mom and Dad. I was worried that you felt as bad as we have and while we were there they found an ear infection. It amazes me that you were still smiling and laughing! It's your first illness and you handled it like champ! Monday was also the first day that mommy started to stay home with you for a while. I've been working part time the past three months and now have a chance to stay home with you for a while. I'm excited for spring that's around the corner. We've got lots of walks and visits to the park in the near future!

We love you...Happy 1/2 year Birthday!

Beckett and Daddy Are Buds 2/25/2011

Hey Buddy....You're 5 months old now and as much as I've loved every moment with you so far every day is more fun than the last.

So far you and I have learned how to play together, laugh together, watch sports together and give your mommy a hard time together.

This week was my first business trip away from you. I went far away to Norway. I had a hard time being away from you but you just kept having fun and laughing with your mommy. Your grandpa came up to help your mommy this week so you got to play a ton with him as well. My biggest fear was that you'd forget about me while I was gone but when I walked in the door you gave me a huge smile and you made me the happiest daddy in the world.

I can't wait to continue to play, laugh and enjoy every minute with you.

First day of this blog, not my life...but we'll get caught up.

So I am a little late in creating this blog, but my intent is document your childhood. I'll be the first to admit that I'm going to be horrible at keeping it updated (as you see I am already 5 months late). As we try to keep up on posts I'll also go back to those first few months to get us caught up. So let's start with the very beginning...you were born September 7, 2010 and after 23 hours of labor you came out screaming! We'll go ahead and say that you were a little stubborn or maybe you were just happy in the comfy confines of mommy's belly and you were also a very big boy with as the nurse said "a record size head". Born at 6:33 pm you were 8lbs 14 oz. and 21 inches long. You came 2 days prior to your due date (not because you wanted to come 2 days early but because I was induced). We're not sure what color hair you had that day (whether it is red is still up in the air), but you definitely look like your daddy. You were born at Prentice Women's Hospital in downtown Chicago. Your first two days were spent in a hospital room with a beautiful view of the sun shining on Lake Michigan. We love you Beckett! God gave us such a wonderful gift that day!

Blizzard 2011

We had our first blizzard of your life this week! Its amazing how things change with a little one in the house. You slept so soundly as the winds ripped and sky boomed, but I know Daddy and I were praying we didn't lose power or a roof as we pulled up the covers and shut our eyes for the night. Thankfully we made it through the night and day dry and warm. We spent the day at home as a family with lots of snuggles and giggles!
